HIV and AIDS is a major social and economical threat for the Zambian society and the agricultural sector plays a vital role in the response to the pandemic. On the other side the agricultural sector of Zambia is facing a continuous decrease of food production per capita since late seventies. The impact of HIV and AIDS certainly should not be underrated as a contributor to this development. Therefore ZCGA is mainstreaming HIV and AIDS programmes into its normal business processes. Marketing of Social Projects
Producer of the agricultural sector in developing countries face more and more increasing standards in terms of food production, ethical or social aspects. The different food industries also here in Zambia have to face more and more requirements in these areas. The agricultural sector as the largest sector in Zambia and therefore also the largest “employer” is challenged to improve its social standards.
Zambia Coffee Growers Association represents an important part of the agricultural sector as a large scale employer and therefore plays a remarkable role for the Zambian society. ZCGA wants to act proactive by implementing a “Marketing of Social Projects” with the following key elements:
Mission Statement
To produce responsibly and sustainably high quality washed Arabica coffee in response to the discerning market requirements and meaningful economic sector for livelihood.
Goals
We want to develop and implement the required social development amongst all members to improve the economical and social development of Zambia
We are willing to develop and sustain our social achievements as much as possible through our own efforts of our entire workforce.
We put all required systems in place to communicate the development and achievements of our socio-economic development.
Social projects will help the industry to develop its profile as competent and responsible part of the society and economy of the country. Our buyers are invited to consider the support of social projects on our member farms. This support will directly benefit the livelihood of workers in all areas of their life (access to health, water, education).
There are two different ways the buyer can support the Zambian Coffee Industry:
Support of a specific project being planned or already in implementation on one of our member farms
General support of social projects, the funds will be allocated to one of our projects.
If you are willing to support our social programs please contact our social coordinator ZCGA Dan Mukutuma
